Votre Palais required an identity that fit the fun-loving family that calls it home.

For an impactful welcome, we started by modifying the existing front entrance with a wooden and metal canopy as shutters to filtre light to create shadows. Walnut wood and limestone are used inside for softness and serenity – but the larger-than-life pieces (think clothespin, pencil sharpener, and more) remind you to smile and as you enter the home.

The owners’ whimsical art collection accents the duplex with pops of colours and adds playfulness to the otherwise neutral colours and materials used, like wood, natural stone, and white textural walls.

Geometric forms, lines and shapes bring order to the home while colourful, over-scale and organic furniture adds fun contrast. Lighting is indirectly soft, used both as decoration and for function. Raised, random patterns on wall coverings and flooring mimic nature and add to the dynamic home. For the girls’ rooms, it’s all about their personalities – full of light with a splash of pizazz.

We also expanded existing skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows to welcome in natural light and played with daylight to animate the space with energy and warmth.

Outside, the curvilinear pool calmly echoes the irregularly-shaped backyard and merges with lush greenery via a criss-cross trellis pavilion that serenely floats above the pool.

Wouldn’t you want to stay and play awhile, too?
