The Narrative: A Sensory Dockside Escape
Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic mangroves along the Ho Chung River and the picturesque tranquility of Hebe Haven, this four bedroom showflat is conceived as a serene retreat. Designed for a family that loves nature, the interior architecture utilizes biomorphic shapes and fluid, organic curves to harmonize with the enchanting landscape outside.

The Living Experience: Fluidity and Form
The journey begins at the foyer, where residents are greeted by “The Leaf,” a sculptural pendant centerpiece that evokes the gentle swaying of trees in a coastal breeze. A wooden bench and curved cabinetry offer a tactile and functional transition into the heart of the home. In the open plan social area, a long and curvilinear sofa anchors the space, paired with a black and white marble coffee table that appears to float above a silk carpet. The architecture follows this organic theme: a white sculptural TV wall contrasts with a large darker painting in its background to add depth to the living area. Nearby, the dining space—framed by soft fabric panels and a pastel green marble table—embraces the wabi sabi philosophy of nature’s imperfect beauty.

Private Sanctuaries: Integrated Architecture
Behind the sofa, a concealed door leads to the master bedroom where gentle rectilinear wallpaper draws the eye toward the mangroves and Hebe Haven. The bed is positioned opposite a low cabinet that gracefully ascends to a dressing table, culminating in a full height leather cabinet with a hidden fold out mirror. The master bathroom sliding door is nestled between the his and her wardrobes. Inside, the focal point is a large asymmetrical vanity mirror adorned by a wall sconce on one side. The biomorphic vanity unit is set between two bold and dramatic marble slabs to create a striking contrast with earthtone wall and floor tiles.

Creative Reflection: The Study and Children’s Suites
The study room connects to the living room through a sliding door and features a vast full height corner window. A centrally located desk allows for an expansive view of the river and mountain, while sinuous bookshelves in the background display a collection of delicate glass birds and rare books. A wood framed lounge chair and sculptural coffee table, positioned against a wall of hand drawn flower sketches, provide a perfect nook for afternoon reading.

In the corridor, we created a display shelf between two full height storage cabinets, an essential feature for a large home. The two ensuite bedrooms each possess a distinctive character. In the girl’s room, the bed is embraced by full height wood slats and light grey fabric panels highlighted by a glass wall lamp. Her passions are reflected in the equestrian books and riding gear on display, complemented by a sinamay dress hat on charming pink bedding. The boy’s room is rhythmic and lively, featuring a long study table supported by a stack of rotating drawers in three different wood finishes. This table extends into a day bed consisting of cylindrical cushions that form the seat and armrest, continuing toward pastel green fabric panels that serve as the headboard.

Whitesand Cove is not just a living space but a celebration of life inspired by the natural world, fostering a deep connection between the indoors and the enchanting landscape outside.
